Q
What is the DVD Regional Restriction Code?

a This issue is for
 All system with DVD-ROM drive
Windows 95/98

The DVD Regional Restriction Code is built in both the DVD player and the DVD discs. Then, the DVD player is only able to play the DVD discs which have the same Regional Restriction Code.

The DVD Regional Restriction Cord is also called Country Code. It prevents the DVD movie discs to be used in certain countries or the regions where the movies have not been released at the theater yet. The movie industry releases the movies at different date in each county or each region, and also they control releasing the DVD movie discs by the each DVD Regional Restriction Code.

For these reasons, changing the cord and playing the DVD movie that has the different regional cord is strictly prohibited. If you want to do it or you do it, it is your responsibility not Gateway responsibility. In addition, please keep this in your mind that you do not have any rights or good excuses when the movie industry bring you to a law suit.

The picture below is the map of the DVD Regional Code. There are 6 Region Codes in the world.
