How can I use the Internet Connection Wizard on Windows 98?

Please follow the procedure below.
note
 |  | This procedure is for the user who has already signed up with specific Internet Service Provider (ISP), like Gateway.net, and will connect to ISP by using Modem. Please make sure that your Modem is setup correctly before you operate this procedure. |
Windows 98 Second Edition
- Start the Windows.
- On your Windows desktop screen, locate and click on [Start] button. From the Start menu, select [Programs], [Accessories], [Internet Tools], then click on [Internet Connection Wizard].
- When the "Welcome to the Internet Connection Wizard" window appears, select "I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)." and click on [Next].

- When the "Setting up your Internet connection" window appears, select "I connect through a phone line and a modem" and click on [Next].

- When the "Step 1 of 3: Internet account connection information" window appears, type the telephone number of the access point of your ISP. And click on [Advanced] to configure connection properties. If you need not, click on [Next] and jump to step 9 of this procedure to continue.

- When the "Advanced Connection Properties" window appears, set up the "Connection type" and "Logon procedure". Then click on "Addresses" tab.
e.g.)In the case of Gateway.net, select "PPP (Point to Point Protocol" in the "Connection type", and "None" in the "Logon procedure".

- In the "Addresses" window, set up the "IP address" and "DNS server address". Then click on [OK].
e.g.)In the case of Gateway.net, select "Internet service provider automatically provides one" in the "IP address", and "Always use the following:" in the "DNS server address", then type;
- "Primary DNS" in the text box "Primary DNS server", and
- "Secondary DNS" in the text box "Alternate DNS server",
then click on [OK].

- When the "Step 1 of 3:" window appears again, click on [Next].
- When the "Step 2 of 3: Internet account logon information" window appears, type "User name" and "Password" which are informed by your ISP.
e.g.)In the case of Gateway.net, "PPP Log In Name(User Name)" and "PPP Password(Password)" of your Account Information form are to be typed here.

- When the "Step 3 of 3: Configuring your computer" window appears, type the name of ISP, then click on [Next].
e.g.)In the case of Gateway.net, type [Gatewaynet], then click on [Next].

- When the "Set Up Your Internet Mail Account" window appears, select [Yes] and click on [Next].

- When the "Your Name" window appears, type your name as you like to display on the E-mail. Then click on [Next].

- When the "Internet E-mail Address" window appears, type your E-mail address which is informed by your ISP, then click on [Next].
e.g.)In the case of Gateway.net, "Your mail Address" of your Account Information form is to be typed here.

- When the "E-mail Server Names" window appears, type the names of mail server which are informed by your ISP, then click on [Next].
e.g.)In the case of Gateway.net, select "POP3" in the "My incoming mail server is a...server", then type the followings of your Account Information form;
- "Receive Mail Server (POP3) Name" in the text box "Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server", and
- "Send Mail Server (SMTP Server)" in the text box "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server",
then click on [Next].

- When the "Internet Mail Logon" window appears, type "Account name" and "Password" which are informed by your ISP.
e.g.)In the case of Gateway.net, "Mail Account" and "Mail Password" of your Account Information form are to be typed here.

- When the "Completing the Internet Connection Wizard" window appears, click on [Finish] to connect to the Internet. If you do not wish to connect to the Internet immediately, remove a checkmark from "To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish" then click on [Finish].

- When the "Dial-up Connection" window appears, click on [Connect] to continue to connect to the Internet.
