Preparing for Installation

System CD or System Restoration CD 3.1 or former version

note

If You have the have System CD 6.1D or later version of Desktop System CD, click here for another procedure.

CAUTION

NT Service Pack 4 must be installed prior to installing this drivers.

note

You may have the floppy disk contained a driver. The driver in the floppy disk is the latest the driver. If you have same driver of the parts both Gateway System CD and the floppy disk, you must use the floppy disk.

Start up the system.
Log in with Administrative rights.
Insert the System CD in the CD/DVD-ROM drive.

If the [System Restoration CD] window appears, click [x] button to close that window.
Click [Start], Settings], then [Control Panel].
Double-click the [Display]. The [Display Properties] appears.
Click the [Settings] tab to bring that page to the front.
Click [Display Type]. The [Display Type] appears.
Click [Change]. The [Change Display] appears.
Click [Have Disk]. The [Install from Disk] appears.

In the [Copy manufacturer's files from] text box, type as below, then click [OK]. The [Change Display] appears.

note

[D:] represents a letter of CD/DVD-ROM drive and vary in each system. If you do not know a letter of your CD/DVD-ROM drive, double click [My Computer]. At the bottom of CD/DVD-ROM icon, there's a name of CD/DVD-ROM drive like (D:),(E:),(R:), and so on.

Click [OK]. The [Third Party Drivers] appears.
Click [Yes]. The files copy, then [Installing Driver] appears stating the drivers have successfully installed.
Click [OK]. The [Display Type] appears.
Click [Close]. The [Display Properties] appears.
Click [Close]. The [System Settings Change] appears, prompting you to restart the computer.
Eject the System CD, click [Yes]. After Windows NT restarts, [Invalid Display Settings] appears stating that a new graphics device has been installed.
Click [OK]. The [Display Properties] appears.
Click [OK] to keep existing settings, or use the Display Properties window controls to make any changes you want to the display.
Inatallation is completed.
