To install the driver

The User's guide that came with your system

  1. Start up your computer.

  2. Click [Start], [Settings], and [Control Panel].

  3. In the [Control Panel] window, double-click the [System] icon.  The [System Properties] window appears.

  4. Click the [Device Manager] tab.  Then click [PCI Communication Device] under [Other devices], and the [Properties] button.  The Properties window appears.

    If you can't find [PCI Communication Device], click the [+] sign next to [Other devices].

  5. Click [Driver] tab, and [Update Driver].  The [Update Device Driver Wizard] window appears.

  6. Click [Next].  A window asking [What do you want Windows to do?] appears.

  7. Click [Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location...] to put a check on it, and [Next].  A window asking you to select the type of device appears.

  8. Click [Modem], and [Next].  A window asking you to select the manufacturer and model appears.

  9. Click [Have Disk].  The [Install From Disk] window appears.

  10. Insert the System CD in the CD/DVD-ROM drive.

    If the [Gateway System Restorarion CD] window or [Configuration tool] window appears, click [x] button to close that window.

  11. In the [Copy manufacturer's files from] text box, type as below, then click [OK].  A window [MINI PCI type 3B Data Fax Modem by 3Com] listed in the [Models] list box appears.

    [D:] represents a letter of CD/DVD-ROM drive and vary in each system. If you don't know a letter of your CD/DVD-ROM drive, click the [My Computer] icon. At the bottom of CD/DVD-ROM icon, there's a name of CD/DVD-ROM drive like (D:),(E:),(R:), and so on.

  12. Make sure that the line is hilighted, and click [Next].  The [Update Device Driver Wizard] window appears with [MINI PCI type 3B Data Fax Modem by 3Com] listed.

  13. Click [Next].  A message [Windows has finished installing the driver you selected for your hardware device.] appears.

  14. Click [Finish].  The [MINI PCI type 3B Data Fax Modem by 3Com Properties] window appears.

  15. Click [Close].  The [System Properties] window appears.

  16. Click [OK].  Click [Start] and [Run].

  17. In the [Open] box, type as below.  The [Welcome] window appears.

  18. Click [Next].  The [Choose Destination Location] window appears.

  19. Click [Next].  The [Select Program Folder] window appears.

  20. Ckick [Next].  The [Setup Complete] window appears.

  21. Click the checkbox of [I want to launch WorldPort now.] to put a check on it, and click [Finish].  The [Location Information] window appears.

  22. Select the country/region and enter your telephony information.  The [WorldPort] window appears.

  23. Click [Japan] in the [Country] list box, and [OK].  A message [The modem was successfully configured.] appears.

  24. Click [OK].  This complete the driver installation.

Please see User's guide for your additional references. This Installation Guide is made for the initial hardware configuration systems we ship. some processes would be changed depending on your hardware configuration.
