To install the driver
Preparing for Installation

    Procedure with pictures

  1. Start the Windows.

  2. On your screen, locate and click on [Start] button.  From the Start menu, select [Settings] then click on [Control Panel].

  3. In the "Control Panel", double click on [System] icon.  Then [System Properties] window appears.

  4. On the [System Properties] window, click on [Device Manager] tab, then double click on "PCI Communication Device" listed under "Other devices".

    If you can not find "PCI Communication Device", click on [+] sign next to "Other devices".

  5. From the Properties window, click on [Reinstall Driver].  The [Update Device Driver Wizard] window appears.

  6. Click [Next].

  7. Select "Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now (Recommended)", then click on [Next].

  8. When the window appears which is asking you to select the location of device driver files, insert the System CD into the CD/DVD-ROM drive.

    If [Portable System CD] window pops up on your Windows desktop screen, close the window by clicking [x] mark where is located at the top of the right-hand side corner of the window.

  9. Select "Specify a location" and remove the checkmark from the other check box.  Then in the text box under "Specify a location", type as below.

    D:\9300ve\Modem\Win95-98

    (D:) represents a letter of CD/DVD-ROM drive and vary in each system. If you do not know a letter of your CD/DVD-ROM drive, double click on [My Computer] icon. At the bottom of CD/DVD-ROM icon, there is a drive letter of CD/DVD-ROM drive like a (D:),(E:),(R:) and so on.

  10. When the [Windows driver file search for the device.] window appears, click on [Next].  The [What do you want Windows to do?] window appears.

  11. Select "Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now (Recommended)", then click on [Next].

  12. When the window appears which asking you to select the location of device driver files, type D:\9300ve\Modem\Win95-98 in the text box "Specify a location".  Then click on [Next].

  13. When the "Windows driver file search for the device." window appears, click on [Next].  The [Add New Hardware Wizard] window appears.

  14. Click [Finish].  The [Update Device Driver Wizard] window appears.

  15. Click [Finish].  The [Actiontec 56K V.90 Modem Properties] window appears.

  16. Click [Close].  The [System Properties] window appears.

  17. Click [OK] to close the window.  This completes the driver installation.



    To confirm the Installation.

  1. Locate and click on [Start], [Settings], and [Control Panel].

  2. Double click on [System] icon and click on "Device Manager" tab.

  3. On the "Device Manager" window, click [+] sign next to the "Modem" and "Sound, video and game controllers".  You will see "Actiontec 56K V.90 Modem" below the "Modem" and "Wave Device for Voice Modem" below the "Sound, video and game controllers".
