SMC EZ Card 10/100 (1211TX)

  SMC 1211TX Driver Disk (Floppy Disk)
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 CD (CD-ROM)

  1. Start the Windows.

  2. Log on with Administrative rights.

  3. On your screen, locate and click on [Start] button.  From the Start menu, select [Settings] then click on [Control Panel].

  4. In the "Control Panel", double click on [Network] icon.  The [Network Configuration] window appears.

  5. Click on [Yes] to install Windows NT Networking.  The [Network Setup Wizard] window appears.

  6. Select [Wired to the network] and click on [Next].  The message [To have setup start searching for a Network Adapter, click Start Search button] appears.

  7. Click on [Select from list] button.  The [Select Network Adapter] window appears.

  8. Click on [Have Disk].  The [Insert Disk] window appears.

  9. Insert the Driver Disk into the Floppy Disk drive.

  10. In the text box, type A:\ and click on [OK].  The [Select OEM Option] window appears.

  11. Make sure that "SMC EZ Card 10/100 PCI (SMC1211 TX)" is highlighted and click on [OK].  The "Network Setup Wizard" window appears again

  12. Make sure that "SMC EZ Card 10/100 PCI (SMC1211 TX)" is selected, and click on [Next].

  13. Select the networking protocols that are used on your network, and click on [Next].

  14. Select the services that are needed on your network, and click on [Next].  The message "Windows NT is now ready to install networking components..." appears

  15. Click on [Next].  The [Windows NT Setup] window appears.

  16. Insert Windows NT 4.0 CD into the CD/DVD-ROM drive.

    If [Windows NT CD-ROM] window pops up on your Windows desktop screen, close the window by clicking [x] mark where is located at the top of the right-hand side corner of the window.

  17. In the text box, type D:\i386 and click on [Continue].  The [TCP/IP Setup] window appears.

    (D:) represents a letter of CD/DVD-ROM drive and vary in each system. If you do not know a letter of your CD/DVD-ROM drive, double click on [My Computer] icon. At the bottom of CD/DVD-ROM icon, there is a drive letter of CD/DVD-ROM drive like a (D:),(E:),(R:) and so on.

  18. Click on [Yes] or [No] and continue to setup the networking.

  19. Setup the IP Address, the network bindings and so on.  The message "Windows NT is now ready to start the network so that you can complete the installation of networking" appears.

  20. Click on [Next].  The massage "Select whether your computer will be participating in a workgroup or a domain..." appears.

  21. Select one and type the name of the workgroup or domain.  Then, click on [Next].  The message "Networking has been installed on this computer" appears.

  22. Click [Finish].  The [Network Settings Change] window appears.

  23. Take out the Driver Disk and Windows NT CD, and then click on [Yes] to restart your computer.

    After installing this driver, Windows NT Service Pack must be installed again.  Click here for the procedure of Windows NT Service Pack installation.
