DVD Decoder Card

To install the driver
Preparing for Installation
  Solo System CD 7.1P or above
Windows 98 Second Edition CD

  1. Start the Windows.

  2. Insert Windows 98 Second Edition CD into your CD/DVD-ROM drive.

    If [Windows 98 CD-ROM] window pops up on your Windows desktop screen, close the window by clicking [x] mark where is located at the top of the right-hand side corner of the window.

  3. On your screen, locate and click on [Start] button.   From Start menu, click on [Run].

  4. In "Open" text box, type as below, then click on [OK].

    [D:] represents a letter of CD/DVD-ROM drive and vary in each system. If you don't know a letter of your CD/DVD-ROM drive, click the [My Computer] icon. At the bottom of CD/DVD-ROM icon, there's a name of CD/DVD-ROM drive like (D:),(E:),(R:), and so on.

  5. The MS-DOS window titled "XCOPY32" appears and files are copied onto your hard disk.

  6. When the [Finished - xcopy] window with the message "778 File(s) copied" appears, close the window by clicking [x] mark where is located at the top of the right-hand side corner of the window.

  7. Insert Margi DVD Decoder Card into the bottom of PCMCIA slot on the left side of your SOLO 2150.

  8. When the [Add New Hardware Wizard] window appears, click on [Next].

    If the window does not appear, skip to step 13 of this procedure.

  9. Select "Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now. (Recommended)", then click on [Next].

  10. When the window appears which is asking you to select the location of device driver files, select "Floppy disk drives" and remove the checkmark from the other check box, and click on [Next].

  11. When the "Windows was unable to locate a driver for this device" window appears, click on [Next].

  12. When the "Unknown Device" window appears, click on [Finish].

  13. On your screen, locate and click on [Start] button.   From the Start menu, select [Settings] then click on [Control Panel].

  14. In the [Control Panel], double click on [System] icon, then [System Properties] window appears.

  15. On the [System Properties] window, click on [Device Manager] tab, then double click on "Margi Systems-DVD Decoder" listed under "Other devices".

    If you can not find "Margi Systems-DVD Decoder", click on [+] sign next to "Other devices".

  16. From the Properties window, click on [Reinstall Driver].

  17. When the [Update Device Driver Wizard] window appears, click on [Next].

  18. Select "Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now. (Recommended)", then click on [Next].

  19. When the window appears which is asking you to select the location of device driver files, insert the System CD into the CD/DVD-ROM drive.

    If [System Restoration CD] window pops up on your Windows desktop screen, close the window by clicking [x] mark where is located at the top of the right-hand side corner of the window.

  20. Select [Specify a location] and remove the checkmark from the other check box.   Then in the text box under [Specify a location], type as below and click on [Next].

    (D:) represents a letter of CD/DVD-ROM drive and vary in each system. If you do not know a letter of your CD/DVD-ROM drive, double click on [My Computer] icon. At the bottom of CD/DVD-ROM icon, there is a drive letter of CD/DVD-ROM drive like a (D:),(E:),(R:) and so on.

  21. When the "Windows driver file search for the device" window appears, click on [Next].

  22. When the [Insert Disk] window appears, click on [OK].

  23. The [Copying Files...] window with the message "The file 'ks.sys' on Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM cannot be found" appears.  Type C:\Win98 in the text box "Copy files from", and then click on [OK].

  24. When the [MARGI Systems DVD-to-Go - WDM Software License Agreement] window appears, read through the license agreement.   Click on [Yes] to agree with it and install the driver.

  25. When the [Welcome] window appears, click on [Next].

  26. When the [DVD-to-Go WDM Drivers Installation Directory] window appears, click on [Next].

  27. When the [Question] window appears, click on [Yes].

  28. When the [Information] window appears, click on [OK].

  29. When the [Update Device Driver Wizard] window with the message "Windows has finished installing an updated driver for your hardware device" appears, click on [Finish].

  30. When the [MARGI_Systems-DVD_Decoder Properties] window appears, click on [Close].

  31. When the [System Properties] window appears, click on [OK] to close the window.

  32. Take out the System CD from your CD/DVD-ROM drive.

  33. On your screen, locate and click on [Start] button. From the Start menu, click on [Shut Down].

  34. From the [Shut Down Windows], select "Restart" and click on [OK] to restart your computer.



    To confirm the Installation

  35. Locate and click on [Start], [Settings], and [Control Panel].

  36. Double click on [System] icon and click on "Device Manager" tab.

  37. On the [Device Manager] window, click [+] sign next to the "Sound, video and game controllers".   You will see "MARGI Systems-DVD Decoder" below the "Sound, video and game controllers".

    This completes the driver installation.
