Starting Setup with Setup Disk

    This process erase all data on your hard drive. If you have the files that you do not want to erase, please make sure you make a back-up for these files.

  1. Insert Windows NT Workstation Setup Disk1 into the floppy drive, and start up your computer.

  2. Setup starts loading files.

  3. The [Windows NT Setup] window appears and prompts to insert the disk labeled Windows NT Workstation Setup Disk #2.  Eject Setup Disk1 and insert Setup Disk2 into the floppy drive.  Then press [Enter].

  4. After loading files, [Welcome to Setup] window appears.   Press [Enter].

  5. A message [Setup automatically detects floppy disk controllers and standard ESDI/IDE hard disks without user intervention.] appears.  Press [Enter].

  6. A message prompts to insert the disk labeled Windows NT Workstation Setup Disk #3 appears.  Eject Setup Disk2 and insert Setup Disk3 into the floppy drive.  Then press [Enter].

  7. A message [Setup has recognized the following mass storage devices in your computer] with [IDE CD-ROM (ATAPI 1.2)/PCI IDE Controller] listed appears.  Press [Enter].

  8. A message prompts to insert Windows NT Workstation CD-ROM appears.  Insert Windows NT Workstation CD, then press [Enter].

  9. The [Windows NT Licensing Agreement] window appears.  Press [PageDown] key to read the license.

  10. At the bottom of Licensing Agreement, press [F8] key to agree.

  11. A message [Setup has determined that your computer contains the following hardware and software components.] appears.  Make sure the line [The above list matches my computer] is highlighted, then press [Enter].

  12. The list of existing partitions and spaces available for creating new partitions appears.  Select one that you want to install Windows NT on, and press [Enter].

  13. A message [Setup has determined that your computer's startup hard disk is new or has been erased, or that an operating system is installed on your computer with which Windows NT cannot coexist.] may appear.  In this case, press [C] key to continue.

  14. A message prompts to select the type of file system appears.  Select [Format the partition using the FAT file system] or [NTFS system], then press [Enter].

  15. A message asking you to confirm that you would like to format the partition.  To format the drive, press [F].

  16. A message [Please wait while Setup formats the partition] appears.  Wait still for few minutes.

  17. A message prompts to choose the location where you want these files to be installed appears.  Make sure [\WINNT] is typed, then press [Enter].

  18. A message [Setup will now examine your hard disk(s) for corruption.] appears.  Press [Enter] to continue.

  19. Setup starts to copy files.  Wait still for few minutes.

  20. A message [This portion of Setup has completed successfully.] appears.  Remove floppy disk and CD-ROM, then press [Enter] to restart your computer.
